Lynch was again delighted to support Skanska at a 'heavy plant safety day' held at their Bermondsey site. This was part of a joint project between Skanska and Lynch Plant Hire to raise the awareness of heavy plant and construction vehicles on sites.
"Many site operatives are not aware of the dangers working in and around heavy plant on construction sites, too often site personal walk within the designated working areas of the machines and increase the chance of being injured or crushed to death" said Liam Moore, Company Training Manager. "This is a fantastic opportunity to get up close to plant in a safe controlled environment" he added.
Lynch had a number of plant machinery on display including 360 excavators, a forward tipping dumper and an 8 wheeled tipper lorry. The workshop sessions per machine lasted for about 15 minutes each and all involved site personnel getting the chance to see the real dangers and the view from the operators cab.
As an approved supplier of Skanska across UK operations Lynch is always supportive of any health and safety schemes and is always willing to work more closely with contractors on their sites in order to improve the safety culture and therefore reduce the risks of accidents or death.
Over 50 site operatives both from the field as well as office based staff attended this event and Feila Scally HSE Manager, Skanska, Bermondsey commented "There was really good feedback from everyone that attended the workshops and most were quite amazed at the many restrictions and regulations now in place for the plant operators".
Lynch Plant hire will continue to roll out the road show across other sites in the coming weeks, If you would like to view our 'excavator safety exclusion zone' video visit our safety pages on our website or if you would like to order a copy of the video please contact the main office today.
