During the winter of 2014, excessive rainfall caused a land slip onto the rail track. Emergency works were carried out to clear the line and keep the rail network running. This involved temporary ballast bag walls to hold back any further slides.
Towards the end of 2017 Network Rail appointed Costain to create a permanent solution to the problem. Costain chose Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage to support their project. This involved supplying operated plant, aggregates and muck away.
Ultimately the permanent solution involves creating new drainage routes and creating a sheet piled wall. Being a huge slope there is much work to get to and create a working area to fulfil the works.
Lynch operator Ricky Wooding (left) has been on site from the start supporting all excavation, drainage and piling works. Ricky is also supporting our apprentice Joe Watts (right) who is gaining great experience from excavator veteran Ricky. The project is due for completion March/April 2018.
