The second Lynch Plant Hire Operator Open Day, took place on Sunday 31st August 2014, this time in Brentwood in Essex. It was another great success - both in the attendance of operators and their families and in raising awareness of women in construction and funds for Lynch’s nominated charity, namely Breast Cancer Care.
With the help of some welcome summer sunshine there was a really good turn out with the event attracting over 4,000 visitors – many of these operators and their families, who were able to relax, have fun and enjoy a really good day out.
Lynch Plant Hire is currently supporting Breast Cancer Care as its main charity, and there was plenty of interest in the pink-painted Lynch lorry which will spearhead Lynch’s campaign for Breast Cancer Care over the next 12 months.
Continuing the pink theme, Lynch has also organised an ongoing raffle for the charity with a top prize of a fantastic, totally pink, excavator, complete with accessories. This was unveiled at the Open Day event by members of the popular television reality show TOWIE, who kindly came to lend their support. The winner of this eye catching machine will be drawn at next year’s operator event.

There was also a raffle on the day itself, which included fantastic prizes such as a helicopter ride over London, a golf day, and a state of the art laptop computer. This helped Lynch raise more than fifteen hundred pounds for Breast Cancer Care…and this figure is set to grow over the coming year.
As with last year, one of the main highlights of the day were the Operator Challenges (see pictures below). These not only gave operators the chance to test their skills and dexterity against each other…but also enabled them to demonstrate to family and friends the importance of their role at the heart of the construction industry.
They certainly had a lot of fun with the ‘stacking tyres’ and the ‘hook a duck’ challenges.
Children were also kept fully entertained as apart from enjoying getting up close and personal with the big yellow ‘machines’ there was also a 'kids fun zone' to keep them amused. This included bouncy castles, face painting an assault course as well as a fantastic lego prizes to be won in the Astra colouring competition.
Key to the success of the Lynch Open Day was the full support Lynch received from our suppliers like JCB, Case, Hill, Cautrac, Wacker Neuson and Strickland, who all turned out in force as did the local community.
Event organiser Mark Kennedy remarked ‘Once again we are absolutely delighted with the overall response to the event from both operators and manufacturers alike and we would like to express our great thanks to all who attended the event and in particular all the manufacturers and suppliers who supported it and help made it a day to remember. This event is now something we will look to repeat year after year’.
