Safety First
This week has been filled with energy as we resumed our regular operations following the festive break. It's been a fulfilling period of reconnecting with our customers and re-engaging on-site activities. Alongside completing safety briefings for our customers, we also conducted our annual stand-down event for our team.
We temporarily paused our business operations for a comprehensive two-day event and delivered a diverse range of presentations, engaging talks, and hands-on demonstrations, all aimed at reinforcing our commitment to safety. Attendance was mandatory for all personnel with access to a company vehicle, with Car, Van and HGV drivers and plant fitters participating in additional refresher training sessions.
Our safety-first mindset stands as one of our core strategic pillars and we pride ourselves on offering industry-leading safety practices. We prioritise the safety of both our employees and customers, and this successful safety stand down event stands as a testament to this.
Matthew Wilson, National Transport Manager
We collaborated closely with the Metropolitan Police throughout this initiative. The interactive sessions and demonstrations featured:
- A keynote talk by a Metropolitan Police representative focusing on Road Safety, hazards, awareness and responsibility concerning vulnerable road users
- A review of recent changes in the highway code and discussions on the hierarchy of road users
- Insights into annual driver compliance requirements delivered by our Compliance Manager
- Refreshers on driving hour regulations from our Compliance Manage
- Refresher sessions on Load Security and daily vehicle checks led by our Driver Development Supervisor
- Refresher session on safe tipping practices conducted by our Haulage Managers
- Training sessions on routine vehicle inspections conducted in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police
- A presentation outlining our company's Health & Safety policies and a reminder of depot rules and site-specific regulations
- A tool box talk on mental health and wellbeing
This was really enjoyable and collaborative session - thank you to everyone involved.
