Electric SANY SY215E

reading time

Introduction

Lynch has partnered with SCS JV teams and our supply chain partner SANY to introduce a 23-tonne fully electric SY215E excavator at one of their key sites. Since going on hire in January, the machine has brought real environmental benefits, operational efficiency... all while helping us meet our collective sustainability goals.

Machine Specs

The electric excavator is capable of 6?8 working hours and the teams have seen up to 10 hours of runtime on site. It runs on 150kW of power, with a dig depth of 6255mm, and is fitted with a lithium iron phosphate battery, cobalt-free, with built-in thermal management to protect battery life during both operation and charging. For safety, it features a battery disconnect switch and emergency stop button, and has a single charging port.

Impact

Noise levels are significantly reduced, improving comfort for operators and cutting down on noise pollution for people living and working near the sites. We're committed to cleaner air and lower emissions - helping to reduce the environmental impact of our work.

Learnings and Next Steps

The teams at Lynch and SCS will continue to monitor the machine usage and gather regular feedback from our plant operators. Charging will be primarily at night, which is more cost-effective and beneficial for battery health, with the fast charger used only when necessary. Standard overnight charging takes around 3?5 hours, depending on usage, and is typically done at the end of the shift which aligns well with site routines.

The excavator efficiently manages a full day of earthworks operations (up to 10 hours) demonstrating that it?s a reliable option even on larger projects.
